Tallulah Lloyd
Academic Mentor
Originally from San Francisco and now based in London, Tallulah graduated from Grinnell College in 2022 with a double major in Economics and Biology. She graduated with Honours in both disciplines, was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and made the Dean's List each semester. During her time at Grinnell, she received a Prize in Economics for an 80-page research project that used original game theory models to examine the drivers of deforestation and resource conflict in the Amazon rainforest, which she presented at two academic conferences. She is currently finishing up a MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change at the London School of Economics, where her dissertation uses spatial economic analysis to understand climate impacts on agriculture and poverty in the California Central Valley.
Tallulah brings a variety of teaching and mentoring experience to her tutoring. At Grinnell, she spent over two years as an Economics Tutor, helping undergraduates with subjects ranging from introductory economics to econometrics. She also mentored for the Society for Diversity and Inclusion in Economics, where she worked with students on both academic and social/emotional aspects of education. She has also tutored younger students in a variety of subjects, including Math, English, and Biology. Her wider career reflects an interest in sustainability and community: she has advised schools and clinics in Uganda and Kenya on sustainable business plans, taught communities in Oaxaca, Mexico to build sustainable infrastructure, and worked in California on energy efficiency projects and regional economic analyses. Her interests include martial arts, backpacking, dance, and art.
Tallulah specialises in SAT tutoring, working with students on both the Maths and English portions of the exam. Drawing on her experience mentoring students across ages and subjects, she takes a supportive, student-centred approach. She believes that students learn best when they feel engaged and empowered, and she enjoys making challenging material feel approachable for every learner.
