Andra Necula

Andra has been an academic mentor since 2019 and has taught thousands of test prep and academic hours. She specializes in digital ACT and SAT, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish, and General Study Skills. In the past, Andra spent three years providing career coaching to students and young professionals from more than 50 countries. This experience prepared her to support ESM college-level students with work/life balance, scholarship applications, graduate work, and career planning.

Andra uses the Socratic method of teaching: she encourages each student to think for themselves, she offers challenges to be solved for further reflection and practice, and she adapts her style of teaching to an individual's style of learning. The journey a student takes will depend on their ultimate goal for the sessions. But underlying each interaction will be an unspoken intention to increase a student's trust in themselves, to spark their curiosity, and to empower them to embrace effective learning for life.

Within the UK team, as Director of Employee Ops, Andra supports students and families to find their best-fit mentors from across the company. Whether a student needs a one-time lesson to grasp a difficult concept, or a multi-year mentorship journey to perfect their study and exam skills, she will work with them to understand their needs and ensure they make the progress they hope for. Andra is a biologist by training and a bit of a language geek, but the only languages she actually ventures to teach are English and Spanish (and Romanian, if anybody ever takes her up on it…)
